खेकडा संवर्धन हे तलावामध्ये, तसेच पिंजरा पद्धतीनेदेखील करता येते. निमखाऱ्या पाण्यामध्ये सिल्ला सेरेटा आणि सिल्ला ट्रॅक्युबेरिका या जाती चांगल्या आहेत. सिल्ला सेरेटा रंगाने तपकिरी काळपट आणि डेंग्याच्या कार्पस भागावर बाहेरील बाजूस एकच अणकुचिदार टोक (दात) असते. सिल्ला ट्रॅक्युबेरिका खेकडे रंगाने हिरवट काळपट असून, डेंग्याच्या कार्पस भागावर बाहेरील बाजूस दोन टोके असतात.
